Javier Bragado Herrero - IES Parque de Lisboa
Hello everyone from Spain! We are the enthusiastic team from IES Parque de Lisboa (Alcorcón - Spain), and we are thrilled to share our amazing experience in the 'Rhythms of Nature' project.
Our students have truly enjoyed every step of this journey! They have not only improved their English and digital skills, but they have also discovered new ways to protect our planet. From creating exciting videos like 'Keep the Earth Clean' and 'Nature Court' to writing letters to the future, every activity has been a chance to learn, collaborate, and have fun.
We are especially proud of how our students have worked together and connected with peers from all over Europe. Building new friendships and sharing ideas for a greener future has been the most rewarding part. We firmly believe that together, we can make a difference for our beautiful Earth!
Thank you to all the partners and coordinators for this wonderful opportunity.
From Winter to Spring: Our Time Capsule and Future Messages
Communication is the heart of 'Rhythms of Nature'. Throughout these months, our students and teachers have participated in several online meetings and webinars that have brought our European classrooms closer than ever.
These virtual gatherings have been much more than just video calls. They were a space to:
Meet our partners: Putting a face and a voice to the students from Turkey and other countries.
Coordinate tasks: Planning our 'Nature Court' videos and debating our sustainability goals.
Collaborative Learning: Participating in joint webinars where we shared our local environmental challenges and solutions.
For our students, using English in a real-world, international context has been an incredible boost to their confidence. It’s been inspiring to see that, despite the distance, we all share the same rhythm when it comes to protecting our planet.
A big thank you to all the coordinators for making these digital bridges possible.
Since we started this adventure in December, our students have been working hard to leave a positive footprint on the planet. It has been a long and meaningful journey that we are proud to summarize today.
One of the most special activities was creating our 'Messages to the Future'. The students wrote heartfelt notes on paper leaves, sharing their hopes and promises for a greener world. These weren't just words; they were commitments to nature.
We also worked on our 'Time Capsule'. We gathered memories, drawings, and ideas from the winter months to be opened in the future. It’s a way to remind ourselves—and those who come after us—how much we cared for the environment during this project.
From the cold days of December to the first flowers of March, 'Rhythms of Nature' has taught us that sustainability is a year-round job. We’ve enjoyed every collaborative task, and seeing our students grow as global citizens has been the best reward
Play, Laugh, and Learn Together
One of the most unforgettable highlights of our project has been the joint games and interactive activities we shared with our international partners!
There is no better way to break the ice and build friendships than through play. Our students had a blast participating in live quizzes, escape rooms, and collaborative challenges alongside their peers from Turkey and other countries. The excitement in the classroom was contagious!
Beyond the fun, these games were a fantastic opportunity for our students to:
Practice English naturally while cheering for their teams.
Develop quick thinking and digital skills in real-time.
Feel part of a big European family, realizing that we share the same sense of humor and enthusiasm.
Seeing them laugh and compete healthily with students hundreds of miles away was truly inspiring. It’s proof that 'Rhythms of Nature' is not just about environment—it's about the joy of connecting with the world
Learning from the Best: Collaborative Work with International Teachers
One of the most enriching aspects of 'Rhythms of Nature' has been the opportunity for our students to work in mixed groups led by teachers from our partner countries.
In these collaborative teams, the traditional classroom disappeared. Our Spanish students found themselves following instructions, receiving feedback, and sharing ideas with teachers from Turkey and other European regions. This 'international mentorship' has been a game-changer because:
It challenged their comfort zone: They had to use English as their only tool to understand and be understood by a different teacher.
Diverse perspectives: They learned different ways of approaching environmental problems thanks to the guidance of our European colleagues.
True European Citizenship: They felt part of a global school where any teacher, regardless of their nationality, was there to support their learning journey.
We want to thank all the international teachers for their patience and dedication to our students. Seeing this synergy between 'foreign' teachers and 'local' students is what eTwinning is all about
Closer than Ever: Our Shared Future with Türkiye
As we reach the final stages of 'Rhythms of Nature', we look back and realize that the greatest achievement wasn't just the videos or the tasks, but the real connection we built with our partners.
Today, Türkiye feels much closer to us. Through our meetings, games, and collaborative work, our students have discovered that despite the distance and different languages, we share the same dreams, the same laughter, and the same commitment to protecting our planet.
We have learned so much for our future:
Empathy and Respect: Understanding and valuing a different culture.
Global Responsibility: Realizing that environmental challenges require international teamwork.
Friendship: Knowing that we have a team of friends waiting for us on the other side of the Mediterranean.
This project has opened our minds and hearts. We are not just students and teachers from different countries anymore; we are a united generation working for a sustainable world.
Teşekkürler (Thank you), Türkiye! It has been an honor to walk this path with you.
